Actinic granuloma

Synonym:

O'Brien's granuloma

Actinic granuloma is a granulomatous reaction occurring in profoundly sun-damaged skin.

Appearing as an erythematous papule, the lesion expands as a red, raised ring, often with central atrophy being evident.

Lesions are usually asymptomatic.

Treatment:

  • The application of potent topical glucocorticoids to the advancing edge is often effective.
  • Intralesional triamcinolone can also be effective.
  • Cryotherapy can also be used.
