Hidrotic ectodermal dysplasia

Hidrotic ectodermal dysplasia, inherited as an autosomal dominant gene, is characterized by defective hair and nails, and keratoderma of the palms and soles.

Nails appear thickened and discolored. They grow slowly.
Hair on the scalp is sparse, fine and breaks easily.
Eyebrows are thin or absent.
Teeth are usually normal.

Treatment:

  • Genetic counseling is indicated.
