Erythrokeratoderma variabilis

Synonym:

Mendes da Costa syndrome

Erythrokeratoderma variabilis, is characterized by persistent plaques, relatively fixed in location, that are red and scaling.
Some lesions can be targetoid, Erythrokeratodermie en cocardes or Degos' syndrome.
Lesions usually persist for life, although smaller lesions can come and go.

Treatment:

  • Oral retinoids such as etretinate or acitretin can produce very significant improvement but must be continued for a sustained effect.
