Intertrigo

Intertrigo is an inflammation of the skin in the body folds, and can be found in the inner thighs, armpits, and underside of the breasts or belly. The symptoms are that the skin is red and raw looking, and the skin may be sore, itch, or even ooze. Relapses are common.

Intertrigo is usually caused by warm and most skin chafing together, and often can be found in those who are diabetic or overweight. Where the skin is broken and infection may develop with yeast or bacteria. Inverse psoriais, Haily-Haily, pemphigus, and glucagonoma can also be causes of intertrigo.

Treatment:

• topical or oral medications for bacterial or yeast infections|
• topical steroid creams
• maintaining dryness at the affected area with cotton, and antiperspirants may be used once the area has healed
