Livedoid vasculitis is an intensely painful condition that develops near the malleoli.
Red papules rapidly ulcerate. Punched out ulcers heal slowly with the development of breast white scars.
The etiology is unknown but a vasculitis with thrombosis is seen histologically.

  • Effective treatment includes stanozolol 5 mg twice a day, phenformin and oral estrogens.
  • Anti-coagulants have also been useful in some patients.
