Milium
mil'e-um) pl. milia (mil'ia) (Latin. Milium - millet seed)
A milium is a tiny, white cyst containing lamellated keratin.
A milium is a small, subepidermal keratin cyst that appears as a white subcutaneous nodule. It is rarely more than 2 mm in diameter.
Most commonly on the face, it can also occur at the site of dermal damage, such as that caused by subepidermal bullae.
Treatment:
- Milia can be incised with a #11 scalpel blade and shelled out.
- It can also be treated with electrical fulguration.
