Pityriasis lichenoides

Pityriasis lichenoides, including pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (PLEVA, Mucha-Habermann disease) and chronic parapsoriasis, are conditions characterized by the development of .5 to 2 cm in diameter dull red plaques with typically a fine scale.
Acutely, lesions can develop central ulceration with a "varioliform" appearance. Scarring is seen with PLEVA.
More chronically, these usually oval plaques can persist for many months on the trunk.
The etiology is unknown.

Treatment:

  • UVB and PUVA
  • Case reports of methotrexate, cyclosporine, Dapsone and oral calciferol
