Spider telangiectasia
Synonym:
Nevus araneus
Spider telangiectasis usually shows lesions on the face; they may persist for weeks or months and disappear.
Spider telangiectasis is common in children and women.
Lesions in children, and lesions secondary to pregnancy, are usually self-limited. Other lesions are permanent.
Treatment:
- Lesions that are of cosmetic importance, not clearing by time alone, respond well to the pulsed dye laser at 585 nm.
- In the absence of a pulsed dye laser, electrocautery may be used, but scarring is common from this latter technique.
