Terbinafine
Terbinafine (Lamasil®) is a new antifungal agent with extraordinary efficacy in the treatment of dermatophyte infections of nails.
Much more efficacious and less toxic than the now obsolete griseofulvin, terbinafine is approved in most jurisdictions in a once a day, for four months, dosage for the treatment of toenail infections.
New studies suggest that intermittent therapy one week in four for four months may be almost as effective.
